Our Services
Let’s get to work.
Grounded in decades of research on racial socialization, Lion’s Story trainings and courses help individuals and institutions navigate and resolve racial stress. Using mindfulness strategies, Lion’s Story trainers guide participants through our curriculum, utilizing individual and group exercises. Our services are facilitated by clinicians, diversity & inclusion experts, administrators and thought leaders in their chosen field. Please refer to the descriptions below for a summary of our offerings.
Workshops
Our workshops and keynotes are an opportunity for participants to gain a foundational understanding of racial literacy. These introductory experiences often spark meaningful conversations and catalyze organizational work around race.
-
Keynotes begin with a two-hour large group seminar delivered by Dr. Stevenson. After the large group seminar, Lion’s Story staff usher participants through a collective storytelling activity, engaging them in discussions about their earliest racial messages and/or patterns of socialization. For more information, visit the Racial Empowerment Collaborative.
-
Racial Literacy Workshops are an introductory racial literacy experience delivered by Lion’s Story lead trainers, virtually or in person. Delivered in a large-group style seminar, these two hour workshops help participants explore and discuss their early childhood and messages they received about race and/or patterns or socialization.
Participants are led through a collective storytelling activity, a reflective journaling prompt, and a paired sharing exercise during the workshop. As a result of the workshop, participants are able to recognize how they were impacted by race at an early age, and how their personal stories continue to shape their feelings around race and racial identity.
Trainings
Our trainings prepare individuals and organizations to become better observers in both personal and professional racial encounters.
-
Trainings for members of organizations looking to increase racial literacy. Sessions are delivered over four, two-hour sessions over several months. Participants work in small and large group settings, completing several activities.
-
