Shamm H. Petros, Partner and Director of Learning & Evaluation
As a refugee from Eritrea, Shamm Petros is committed to supporting the psychological well-being and development of migrant children across the world. Shamm has several years of experience conducting extensive research for program development, leading project design, securing funding, and engineering tools for various refugee protection and education programs across the US, Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda and Iraq. Additionally, she provided direct clinical services to African-Americans and forced migrants affected by complex and sexual trauma. Her unique experience in international refugee relief services prepared her to provide direct clinical services, as well as lead the design of trauma-informed, culturally relevant psychosocial interventions for various populations.
Shamm has also served as Clinical Research Coordinator of the Racial Empowerment Collaborative (REC) at the University of Pennsylvania, leading the delivery, monitoring and evaluation of a school-based cognitive-behavioral trauma intervention. Ms. Petros holds an M.S.Ed in Counseling and Mental Health Services, M.Phil. in Professional Counseling from the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education.
