Dr. Brian Peterson, Founder

Dr. Brian Peterson is the Director of the Makuu Black Cultural Center and a lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Peterson’s research interests include urban youth and communities, college student development, learning systems, and nonprofit organization development. In 1999, Dr. Peterson co-founded Asé Academy, an academic and cultural enrichment program for secondary students in Philadelphia. Four years later, Dr. Peterson created Lion’s Story with Dr. Stevenson to serve as a nonprofit educational research and development group to support Asé’s growth and nurture other projects connected to education and culture.

 

Dr. Peterson is the author of four books: Move Over, Girl (2000), Spoken Words (2003), The African American Student’s Guide to Excellence in College (2005), and Higher Learning: Maximizing Your College Experience (2010).
